Preppy

Hope you're all having a great Friday, personally I have been longing for this weekend so bad. I need sleep! Alas, it's my brothers birthday tomorrow so I'll be up bright and early as I'm taking him for a ride on a steam train, which is gonna be really cute.

I wanted to wear something comfortable and easy yesterday as I was in one of those ergh moods so I donned the t-shirt I got my boyfriend for Christmas and a comfy jumper.

 Boyfriend's Top: H&M
Jumper: Charity Shop

Not got a lot to say today, I'm pretty boring to be honest. So I'll leave you with a song.

Pinafore

Hello everyone. The weather been utterly dreadful today. I don't know about you but here in Blighty it's been raining cats and dogs, so much so that I know have leak in my room. Great. Nevertheless, here's an outfit post of what I wore yesterday. Although, please forgive the gigantic hole in my tights, it happened on the bus ride home. I wouldn't go out like that. No, instead I like to post it on the internet.

 Dress: Vintage
Top (cropped): ASOS

Also, please excuse my slightly orange face, I was pottering through my sister's make-up bag and just tested out her brushes. As you do. Little did I know it was covered in bronzer and gave me a nice orange glow that I didn't notice until after these photos were taken. Lesson learned.

As some of you may know it was my birthday last week and I thought it would be a nice idea to make my thank you cards instead of buying some. I used acrylic paper instead of watercolour but I think they turned out quite well if I do say so myself. Thank you GCSE art!

Until next time I'm going to leave you with this:

Because this song is cute and great to paint to.

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me! In case you haven't guessed, it's my birthday today and I turn a mighty 18 years, finally. So its just a quick one today of what I wore yesterday when I went shopping to get my birthday present. Yes, I bought my own present, my mum didn't trust herself to get me a camera.

*Bad attempt of me trying to show you my nails*

Feeling Like Blah

Hello everyone! Hope you're all having a great Sunday, for me it's my last day of freedom before heading back to school. Sucks man. So I indulged myself with a lie in and playing a spot of Sims 3, but first I took advantage of the sunshine and snapped these photos.

 Jumper: Vintage
Shorts: Newlook
Socks: Primark

 *Belleh*

I've been feeling rather sluggish lately and I'm pretty sure it's due to my horrendous diet that I've allowed myself to have over this Easter holiday. So much pizza! Anyway, in order to combat these feelings I donned my favorite jumper and a bit of dramatic lippy. The lipstick I'm wearing is a combination between a bright red and a really dark (almost black) purple that I just blended together with a lip brush. They say the best thing to detract from bad skin is a bold lipstick. And I can tell you, my skin is awful at the moment.

Anyway, enough ranting I'll leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening with this:

Because I cannot get enough of the Tarzan soundtrack.

DIY

I've wanted to try bleaching clothes for ages and when I got a hole in a pair of old leggings I thought 'what a great opportunity to hack away at them and throw on some bleach'. It turned out to be the easiest DIY I've ever done so there's no excuse for you to not try it too.

You will need:
  •  Leggings
  • Scissors
  • Bucket
  • Water
  • Bleach
  • Squirty bottle thing

Take your old pair of leggings and lay them out flat and decide the length you want them to be, I wanted mine to be about the same length as a pair of cycling shorts. Fold your leggings in half and cut across in a straight line.

Wet the area of the leggings that you want to bleach and squeeze the excess water out. Then add water to the bucket and bleach. About 4 cups water to 2 cups bleach.

Dip your leggings into the water up to the point where you dampened them earlier. Use something like a hair clip or a clothes peg to secure the leggings on the side of the bucket.

After about half an hour they will begin to change colour, the colour they turn all depends on the original colour of your leggings. As mine are grey they first turned a deep red and then a light pink the longer they stayed in the bleach. I left mine in the bucket over night.

I wanted to add a splattered effect up the legs of the leggings instead of just having a straight line. So i took an old squirty bottle (technical term I have you know) and filled it with neat bleach, You could add a little water to it if you don't the splatters to come out too light.

I spritzed the leggings like so and left them to develop until I was happy with how they looked. Once you are happy with them, take them out and give them a good rinse before popping them in the washing machine. Do put them in on their own otherwise if there is any bleach left in them you might end up bleaching everything else that's in the wash.

Once dry they should look something like this! I was going to add some lace round the bottom but couldn't find any so that's something to add to my shopping list. Though I quite like them like this too. Just need some nice weather now.

Hope you enjoyed this and if you have a go do let me know as I'd love to see your DIY's.

I'll post an outfit with these soon, but until then here's something to listen to whilst you're bleaching away.

Hair Bow

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're all engaging in the many fantastic Easter activities i.e. eating lots of chocolate. I myself have gorged on breakfast consisting of mini eggs and chocolate nests, well you only live once eh?

Here I decided to be adventurous by taking some pictures in a different location, nah I'm just kidding I was just being lazy and wanted to sit on the floor. Though look at my hair man! I followed this video to make it into a funky bow, though I did struggle a bit as my hair is just so damn long. I need a hair cut.

 Shirt: Second Hand
Jumper: Charity Shop
Leggings: Primark

 *Rabbit in headlights much*

So apart from looking like a scared rabbit I love this outfit as it's just so easy to wear and quirky at the same time. It's all thanks to this wonderful jumper that I picked up in one of my local charity shops yonks ago for only a couple quid. Who doesn't appreciate a little bit of a geometric pattern nowadays? Anyway, I best stop procrastinating and clean my room and then actually get down to some studying. Ergh.

Hope you're all having a fab Easter, I leave you with this:

Because, quite frankly, I'd love to be in an octopus's garden right now.

Fashion That's Friendly

Happy Good Friday everyone, hope you're all having a ball. I'm feeling a little worse for wear as I went to two parties last night. Yep, two. Cos I is so popular.

Anyway, I was contacted by this really great website called Friendly Fashion and agreed to do a post about them as I found the whole concept such a great idea.

Basically, Friendly Fashion is a place where "everyone can swap, sell or give away the clothes, accessories and shoes they no longer wear" It's a tad like Ebay but so much better as, guess what? It is completely free. Yes, no more sly 'seller fees' sneaking up on you or the website taking a cut of the final selling price. This way all the money you make goes straight to your pocket! It's a very simple website to use, all you do is click the button saying 'I want it' and then negotiate with the seller as to how you would like to pay/swap for the item ect.

Also, this website doesn't work on the basis of an auction and thus avoids unleashing that competitive bidding steak we all know we have. You can't tell me that you've never gotten just a tad over excited on Ebay and ended up bidding way too much for something you didn't even want in the first place.

Finally, I couldn't agree more with the whole ethics of this website. The majority of my wardrobe is second hand, mainly due to the fact that I don't have the money to be dripping in designer gear. But also because I'm a big fan of recycling and looking after the environment as between 1.5 to 2 million tonnes of clothing is discarded every year in the UK. Friendly Fashion helps give a new lease of life to old clothes and keep them out of landfills and in our wardrobes.

Anyway, enough of me ranting, have a look at some of the great items I found whilst browsing on the website and are available to buy now, so grab them while you can.

Been A While!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a fantastic weekend and caught a few of the last rays of sunshine. Sorry for the lack of posts, I stayed at Ross's all weekend and didn't have a chance to update between the mass of unhealthy wonderful snacks and films as we immersed ourselves in a movie marathon. Ended up watching all three of the Matrix films along side Superbad and Airplane (all of which were Ross's choice).

Anyway, onto my beaut of a package that arrived a while ago from The October Union an amazingly unique online store that offers great vintage items. When I saw this gorgeous skirt for $5 I just had to have it! Granted it was in the sale, and the postage cost me more than the actual item but a grand total of around 14 quid isn't too shabby in my books.

Waistcoat: Primark
Shoes: Primark
Skirt: The October Union

Elephant Necklace: Ebay
Owl Necklace: Present from Ross

*LOL*

The random sunny spell we've had has really got me excited for summer but alas it's forecast to snow next week. Snow! In April, crazy! Nothing we can do I suppose, except pull a jumper on.

I've got quite a few things planned for over Easter including a spot of DIY, so watch this space! But until then I'm going to leave you with a brilliant music video by Ballyhoo/Eventide, a really great local band. So it would be really great if you could check them out and support them.
