Living Life As A Poor Student.

Hello everyone, sorry for the short absence. I've been so busy these few days what with getting my results and my mum coming home after a week away to see my nan who is pretty ill at the mo. So this outfit is one I photographed a while back but hadn't got round to posting.

Anyway, just want to say thanks to all of you that wished me luck with my results. I am proud to say that I got into my first choice uni (University Of Kent) to study English Literature and Creative Writing and I actually cried when I found out. As for my results I got A* A B B! Not gonna lie I am super chuffed with my A* (in psychology) and it was totally unexpected.

Top: Customised
Skirt: DIY
Belt: Vintage
Fishnets: Primark

Naturally I celebrated in true teenage British style and got just a little drunk with my friends and played on singstar ever so badly. Safe to say I felt like utter shite in the morning but hey, you're only young once.

As for this outfit, it's probably one of the cheapest ones I have ever worn as the only thing I actually bought was the vintage belt which was a measly 2 pounds. You see I'm already living the life of a student. The top was a hand-me-down from a friend of mine which I hadn't worn until I attacked it with the scissors. I reckon I'll get much more wear out of it now.

The skirt was one of my very first DIY projects and I made it out of an old denim jacket of all things. I literally cut off the sleeves and collar then tapered it to fit my shape. It was really easy so head down to your local charity shop and give it a go.

I apologise for this photo. I didn't realise I was sticking my bum out, but it was the only back shot I had and I wanted to show off my dreads. It also makes my waist look smaller than it is which is a plus.

I've been looking at travel costs for getting down to uni and gosh it's pretty pricy isn't it? Although, the one thing that has really helped is the fact that I'll be getting a free rail card as I'm a Natwest customer which really helps. So if you're reading this and you're going into sixthform or whatever, get an account with Natwest because a free 4 year railcard is a godsend.

Just to clarify, no I am not getting paid by Natwest to say that.

On another note, take a look at these babies. Remember years ago say 2005 when being chavy was cool. Well me and my sister clubbed together to get these and we thought they were amazing. After being worn only a few times and years spent in a shoe box I'm bringing them back. Well actually I wore them all winter. But shush. They're making their blogging debut. I am still in two minds as to whether I should dye them or not, what do you think?

Whilst you ponder on that here's liberty X:

Because this is was my fave song that was sung on Thursday night.

Vitamin C.

Hello everyone. I find out my A level results tomorrow morning. Oh my. To say the least, and excuse my french, I am shitting myself.

This time two years ago I was the complete opposite. GCSE's had been a breeze for me. I literally walked through them with very little effort. The long list of As didn't surprise me and was actually expected.

Fast forward to A levels and I am all over the place! I really do not want to have a repeat of March where I found out that my efforts were worth an E in my English Literature exam. After that I really tried so I hope its paid off. Either way I am getting drunk tomorrow evening with my friends and plan on not remembering much.

Dress: Primark
Hat: H&M

Ross made me American style pancakes this morning. The recipe served 4. We ate the whole lot to ourselves and I'm still feeling a tad sickly hours later. Moral of the story. Don't be greedy when it comes to American pancakes.

Keeping the food theme, take a look at my dress. It's covered in oranges! I bought this last year when my mum took me shopping for my birthday but the strap broke not long after so I hadn't worn it much. That is until I stopped being so lazy and finally sewed the accused strap back on. It was warm enough last week to wear this without tights though I reckon I'll still wear it in the winter with some thick tights and boots. Look at me talking about winter already.

Dread update: they're doing pretty good though a fair few of them are really loose so I reckon I'm going to have to redo them and not rush it this time. I washed them with a bicarbonate of soda wash for the first time a couple of days ago which should help them lock up nice and tight. If anyone has any advice on dreads that they would like to nudge in my direction I'd be very grateful. I've also been thinking about layering the loose hair that I've got on top to give my hair more shape, so I might attempt that some time soon. If I'm wearing a paper bag over my head in a few posts time you'll know its because I fucked it up.

*Me trying to show off my rings in a more interesting way*

Right I reckon it's time for me to drink some tea, catch up on blog posts, clean the house and then ring my nan as its her birthday today.

Love you nan!

Because the performance of this at the Olympics Closing ceremony was insane!

Studs And Fruit.

Hello, so I've had a few full on days and quite emotional days at that. I blame my hormones. I said goodbye to one of my best friends a couple days ago as she's going to live in New Zealand. I'm really chuffed for her and I know she's going to have an amazing time but I will miss her. On the bright side I have a great place to go on holiday to now.

 Playsuit: Primark
Waistcoat: Customised

I ordered some studs of Ebay a fair while ago and they finally arrived last week after waiting for over a month with a cheeky note asking me to rate them full stars! And even then they had only sent me half the amount that I'd paid for. I wasn't impressed to say the least. Annoyances aside I spent a whole evening pushing studs through various items in my wardrobe, this waistcoat being one of them. I really like the way it turned out as its simple enough to not be too in your face but it just lifts the whole item. Job well done, if I do say so myself.

I haven't really got a lot to say today if I'm honest. I've just been feeling a little down in the dumps lately and drinking lots of tea. I've even stopped doing yoga as regularly as I was as I just can't be bothered and feel so blah. Note to self: make more effort.

Anyway, have a picture of my face and a cheery song.

Because my mum is borrowing my Ipod for a 6 hour coach journey and as I'm lovely I put all of her motown CD's onto it.

Genie.

Hello everyone. I would apologize for my absence but that would be boring and lets face it no one likes a groveler. So lets dive straight in eh?

I've been pretty busy these past few days stripping wall paper, going on a night out without any ID (I am 18 FYI), getting addicted to the Logosquiz app and being utterly glued to my telly thanks to the Olympics. Anyone see the mens 100 meter sprint? Cannot tell you how tense my household was, haha.

 Top: Very Old
Shorts: Newlook
Belt: Vintage
Vest: Mothers

I had Ross stay over for a few days which was lovely as he's gone and got himself a full time job starting next week or so, meaning I wont be able to see him much before we both head off to that place called university. Don't get me wrong I'm really looking forward to venturing off into the big wide world I just hope we manage to see each other along the way.

Right. Clothes. Can we take a moment to appreciate how amazing this vest/waistcoat is? This wonderful thing was once my mum's and now has pride of place in my wardrobe. I've had it for a while and used to throw it over everything yet for some unknown reason it's gotten buried underneath my ever expanding clothes collection. So I thought it was high time I gave this guy some attention. It makes me feel a little like a genie.

I paired the vest with a floral top that I've had for literally years, hence the sliver of belly, and I really like the way these two items go together. The vest just makes a rather cute but boring outfit all the more interesting.

I also decided to finally jump on the bring-back-side-ponys band wagon driven by Chloe. I didn't initially think it would work with my dreads but I reckon it turned out pretty good despite having to tuck in a few lumps and bumps, haha.

That's it from me I reckon. Just a big thank you to everyone who reads, comments and follows this little blog of mine, it really makes my day.

Here you go:

Because I absolutely love this song.

Floral and Crochet.

Hello people of the internet. I'm currently sat with a mug of hot green tea and watching my cat sleep. Sounds creepy I know but she's so funny when she sleeps. She does this cute little twitch.

I reckon that's not something I should be plastering all over the internet. I can see a future as a crazy cat lady in store for me.

 Dress: Pop Boutique
Waistcoat: Primark
Belt: Primark

Anyway, lets move onto what you actually came here for: clothes. So I wore this outfit whilst I was just lounging around the house but felt like actually looking like a human rather than something the cat dragged in (yet more mentions of cats). This dress was a hand me down from my sister but was originally from Pop Boutique in Leeds, though there's a handful across the country and even one in Sweden, go figure. I wont lie I haven't been in a while, but whenever I have they have always had some really cool stuff which is pretty affordable. And believe me coming from a cheapskate I really do mean it's affordable.

I was having a play around with my hair and began french plaiting two bits at the side which I then incorporated into a full french plait. I quite like how it turned out despite some bits sticking out, yet I think they just add to it. Considering this girly hairstyle I went ahead and teamed the floral dress with a pretty crochet waistcoat that I got last year from Primark. I really do love this waistcoat as it's so easy to throw over anything

The majority of my rings are now from Ebay after I had a bit of a 'I need more rings' moment and promptly ordered a gazillion. Well not a gazillion, more like six. However, now that I have all these rings, I tend to stick to wearing the same ones. So in order to combat this I'm making more of a conscious effort to make use of my recent ring collection.

*This is me trying and failing to show you my anklet*

Speaking of Ebay, I'm currently selling a few things on there in case anyone is interested. There's a pair of work trousers that I'm selling for my mum so just ignore those if you so wish. Though there's a pair of floral shorts and a pretty check dress both currently at 99p so you'll definitely grab a bargain. I'm trying to get a bit of money together so I can get Ross his birthday present (I wont tell you what it is as I want it to be a surprise and I know he reads my blog. Yes I'm talking to you Ross!).

That aside, it's probably worth a look just so you can laugh at my selling banter.

Because it reminds me of all those Jam Nights I went to for Ross.
