Floral and Crochet.

Hello people of the internet. I'm currently sat with a mug of hot green tea and watching my cat sleep. Sounds creepy I know but she's so funny when she sleeps. She does this cute little twitch.

I reckon that's not something I should be plastering all over the internet. I can see a future as a crazy cat lady in store for me.

Anyway, lets move onto what you actually came here for: clothes. So I wore this outfit whilst I was just lounging around the house but felt like actually looking like a human rather than something the cat dragged in (yet more mentions of cats). This dress was a hand me down from my sister but was originally from Pop Boutique in Leeds, though there's a handful across the country and even one in Sweden, go figure. I wont lie I haven't been in a while, but whenever I have they have always had some really cool stuff which is pretty affordable. And believe me coming from a cheapskate I really do mean it's affordable.

I was having a play around with my hair and began french plaiting two bits at the side which I then incorporated into a full french plait. I quite like how it turned out despite some bits sticking out, yet I think they just add to it. Considering this girly hairstyle I went ahead and teamed the floral dress with a pretty crochet waistcoat that I got last year from Primark. I really do love this waistcoat as it's so easy to throw over anything

The majority of my rings are now from Ebay after I had a bit of a 'I need more rings' moment and promptly ordered a gazillion. Well not a gazillion, more like six. However, now that I have all these rings, I tend to stick to wearing the same ones. So in order to combat this I'm making more of a conscious effort to make use of my recent ring collection.

Speaking of Ebay, I'm currently selling a few things on there in case anyone is interested. There's a pair of work trousers that I'm selling for my mum so just ignore those if you so wish. Though there's a pair of floral shorts and a pretty check dress both currently at 99p so you'll definitely grab a bargain. I'm trying to get a bit of money together so I can get Ross his birthday present (I wont tell you what it is as I want it to be a surprise and I know he reads my blog. Yes I'm talking to you Ross!). 

That aside, it's probably worth a look just so you can laugh at my selling banter. 

 

Because it reminds me of all those Jam Nights I went to for Ross.

Checked Skirt And Fishnets.

Hello everyone. I've had this post open for about ten minutes but hadn't written anything as I got distracted by my knitting needles. I swear knitting is so addictive. Anyway, I've put them aside now but they keep looking at me.

Skirt: Ebay Then Customised 

This is an outfit I wore a couple days ago but only managed to snap today as my sister coming back from London means I haven't had the room to myself until today. I'm wearing my 'new' skirt that I got off Ebay for a only a couple quid. It was originally a wrap skirt but I trimmed both sides and added buttons after seeing one similar to this on an online shop but I cant for the life of me find it again. After getting pretty frustrated with the button holes it probably would have been easier to just buy to sodding thing. Nevertheless, I still love it. 

 I also managed to make some more dreads, I now have seven lovely baby dreads. The cream/brown wool that you can see wrapped around them is just there to keep them neat and hopefully avoid lots of loose hair. I must say I'm pretty proud of my efforts and can't wait to be a full dread head. I'll stop yabbing on about my dreads when the novelty has worn off, I promise.

On another note, my tripod broke. The top swivel-y bit (technical term) just snapped off, just like that. So taking these pictures was a bit of a nightmare as my camera just doesn't like to balance in a portrait fashion. Hence the landscape ones.

I haven't been up to much recently other than doing a hell of a lot of tie dying. I was going to do a bit of a video tutorial on it but filming whilst dying turned out harder than I'd first anticipated. I will however share the results with you and perhaps do a written step by step so you too can jump on the tie dye bandwagon.

Other than that I haven't been up to much at all. I did clear out our summer house/shed yesterday (by clearing out I mean shoving everything in a corner to make room for more crap) and I don't think I'd ever let out such a high pitched scream. Why I screamed I hear you ask? My lovely pet cat had only gone and brought in a dead mouse!

Jeepers Creepers.

Now I know what you're gonna say "woah there Safiya where's all your bloody hair gone?" Though it is more likely that you weren't actually going to say that at all. Nevertheless, yes I have had a hair cut. And I never get my hair cut. Until now I hadn't had my hair cut for 2 years. Ouch. 

The thing is I really dislike people touching my hair, I don't mind if its Ross but otherwise nope, hate people touching my hair. I reckon its after having my older sister insist on 'doing' it which meant frying it ridiculously with the hair straighteners when we were younger. She even cut it once when I was 13. Very badly I might add.

Yeah as you can see my creepers finally came! Woop. Took their sweet time getting here too. They only cost me around 27 pounds with postage which I thought was great. Though I cant find the exact link to them on Ebay as the seller doesn't have them anymore, so here's an alternative.

I must say, however, that when I first unwrapped them the sole was much bigger than I had expected. But if anything it makes me love them more. I can now say that I stand at a not-so-staggering 5ft 4inches and a half. The half is very important. And they are so comfortable to walk in, I feel as though I am walking on air.

Anyway, I reckon that's enough from me. So I shall leave you with this whilst I go grab a cold drink and enjoy the sunshine:

Feeling Dreadful.

I cant believe it's only Tuesday. I just want to crawl back into bed and sleep for 50 years then wake up and wonder why I have a beard and wrinkles. I imagine my hair would be down to my feet by then, as it grows at such a ridiculous rate, and I would dust the floor with my long locks as I walked. Hey, It would save me hoovering all the time. I realise I'm rambling now. Sorry.

The skirt I'm wearing was a spontaneous buy from The October Union as it was on sale for five dollars. You can see me wearing it in this post too.

What is it with me and pirate faces, eh? Anyway, as you can see I decided to make myself an experimental dread, although I'm lacking in a crochet hook and so I have a lot of loose hair at the moment. I am planning on taking it out for my prom (thanks to this video I realised I wouldn't need to shave my head) as I would like to look elegant, lol, before I head off to uni and become a full time scruff.

Right, I'm going to curl up with a hot water bottle as my stomach is killing me, watch youtube videos on how to make my dread look less shit and read my friends Nanowrimo from last year all washed down with a cup of tea.

Because Amelie is a cracking film. 

Also, anyone out there who has dreadlocks and could help out a failing novice?

Fashion That's Friendly

Happy Good Friday everyone, hope you're all having a ball. I'm feeling a little worse for wear as I went to two parties last night. Yep, two. Cos I is so popular. 

Anyway, I was contacted by this really great website called Friendly Fashion and agreed to do a post about them as I found the whole concept such a great idea. 

Basically, Friendly Fashion is a place where "everyone can swap, sell or give away the clothes, accessories and shoes they no longer wear" It's a tad like Ebay but so much better as, guess what? It is completely free. Yes, no more sly 'seller fees' sneaking up on you or the website taking a cut of the final selling price. This way all the money you make goes straight to your pocket! It's a very simple website to use, all you do is click the button saying 'I want it' and then negotiate with the seller as to how you would like to pay/swap for the item ect.

Also, this website doesn't work on the basis of an auction and thus avoids unleashing that competitive bidding steak we all know we have. You can't tell me that you've never gotten just a tad over excited on Ebay and ended up bidding way too much for something you didn't even want in the first place.

Finally, I couldn't agree more with the whole ethics of this website. The majority of my wardrobe is second hand, mainly due to the fact that I don't have the money to be dripping in designer gear. But also because I'm a big fan of recycling and looking after the environment as between 1.5 to 2 million tonnes of clothing is discarded every year in the UK. Friendly Fashion helps give a new lease of life to old clothes and keep them out of landfills and in our wardrobes.

Been A While!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a fantastic weekend and caught a few of the last rays of sunshine. Sorry for the lack of posts, I stayed at Ross's all weekend and didn't have a chance to update between the mass of unhealthy wonderful snacks and films as we immersed ourselves in a movie marathon. Ended up watching all three of the Matrix films along side Superbad and Airplane (all of which were Ross's choice).

Anyway, onto my beaut of a package that arrived a while ago from The October Union an amazingly unique online store that offers great vintage items. When I saw this gorgeous skirt for $5 I just had to have it! Granted it was in the sale, and the postage cost me more than the actual item but a grand total of around 14 quid isn't too shabby in my books.

The random sunny spell we've had has really got me excited for summer but alas it's forecast to snow next week. Snow! In April, crazy! Nothing we can do I suppose, except pull a jumper on.

Leopard

Hello readers! Yes all six of you! I managed to drag my lazy ass out of bed this morning and go to school (because I'm a dedicated student and all that shiz) but to cheer me up I thought I'd wear my new Ebay purchase. Now, I have never worn/bought anything leopard print before. 

In actual fact I really disliked it. That is until I got the sudden urge to deck my entire wardrobe out with the feline print. Must have had a bad case of leopard print deficiency. Anyway...

Tada! I bought a leopard print body! Although, it does have really thin spaghetti straps so my bra straps are on show to the world when I take my shirt off, which I didn't anticipate would happen. But my gosh was it nice and warm today! The sun was actually out for once, made me feel like a right banana for taking my coat.


I also did something different with my hair, snazzy I know, I partly french plaited it down the one side to give the illusion that one side is shaved. Reminds me that I really need a hair cut.


And yes I am wearing these shorts again.
