Genie.

Hello everyone. I would apologize for my absence but that would be boring and lets face it no one likes a groveler. So lets dive straight in eh?

I've been pretty busy these past few days stripping wall paper, going on a night out without any ID (I am 18 FYI), getting addicted to the Logosquiz app and being utterly glued to my telly thanks to the Olympics. Anyone see the mens 100 meter sprint? Cannot tell you how tense my household was, haha.

 Top: Very Old
Shorts: Newlook
Belt: Vintage
Vest: Mothers

I had Ross stay over for a few days which was lovely as he's gone and got himself a full time job starting next week or so, meaning I wont be able to see him much before we both head off to that place called university. Don't get me wrong I'm really looking forward to venturing off into the big wide world I just hope we manage to see each other along the way.

Right. Clothes. Can we take a moment to appreciate how amazing this vest/waistcoat is? This wonderful thing was once my mum's and now has pride of place in my wardrobe. I've had it for a while and used to throw it over everything yet for some unknown reason it's gotten buried underneath my ever expanding clothes collection. So I thought it was high time I gave this guy some attention. It makes me feel a little like a genie.

I paired the vest with a floral top that I've had for literally years, hence the sliver of belly, and I really like the way these two items go together. The vest just makes a rather cute but boring outfit all the more interesting.

I also decided to finally jump on the bring-back-side-ponys band wagon driven by Chloe. I didn't initially think it would work with my dreads but I reckon it turned out pretty good despite having to tuck in a few lumps and bumps, haha.

That's it from me I reckon. Just a big thank you to everyone who reads, comments and follows this little blog of mine, it really makes my day.

Here you go:

Because I absolutely love this song.

It's Been Hectic!

Apologies for being absent, my life has been so hectic lately. My mum broke her arm on Saturday at the 1940's weekend and went into hospital for surgery on Wednesday but they didn't operate till the next day. So I've been filling her shoes and playing general house keeper for the past week or so. Not only that but I had an exam yesterday as well as prom (I'll post about it later) so I really haven't had time to be taking pictures.

Anyway, enough of a sob story! Here is an outfit I wore to school earlier in the week. I got told I look 'eccentric' and my mum said I looked silly. At the time I thought 'nah, I look ok' but on reflection I'm not too sure. I thought I'd post it anyway as even fashion bloggers like me (lolololol) don't get it right. I'm experimenting with my style more than ever right now so I'm bound to look like a dick at some point or another. But that's ok because at least I tired it. So I would love to encourage you to all be more experimental with your style and if you get it wrong, you get it wrong. At the end of the day they're just clothes.

T-Shirt: Boyfriend's
Belt: Vintage
Skirt: DIY

 Cycling Shorts/ Leggings: DIY

Although this outfit isn't great I am rather proud of the skirt. It's made out of a large piece of fabric we had lying around which I just sewed onto a length of elastic. However, the elastic did lose a bit of its stretchiness so its a bit big on me, woops. Also, my legs aren't actually that colour, I was wearing tight to 'test' them out for prom but I didn't even end up wearing them as it was so god damn hot!

I reckon that's all you're gonna get out of me today. I've got a few jobs to do as well as revision before heading off for a picnic with Ross.

I'd just like to say a big thank you to everyone who reads my posts and comments. Also to any new followers. You really are all so lovely!

Because Marina is lovely too.

Feeling Dreadful.

I cant believe it's only Tuesday. I just want to crawl back into bed and sleep for 50 years then wake up and wonder why I have a beard and wrinkles. I imagine my hair would be down to my feet by then, as it grows at such a ridiculous rate, and I would dust the floor with my long locks as I walked. Hey, It would save me hoovering all the time. I realise I'm rambling now. Sorry.

Here is an outfit I wore last week but didn't have time to post unfortunately. I love the colour of this top which looks rather brown in these photos but IRL it's actually quite plum-y. The skirt I'm wearing was a spontaneous buy from The October Union as it was on sale for five dollars. You can see me wearing it in this post too.

Skirt: The October Union
Top: Primark

Elephant Necklace: Ebay
Cross Necklace: Ebay
Ring: Ebay
Owl Necklace: Present from Ross

What is it with me and pirate faces, eh? Anyway, as you can see I decided to make myself an experimental dread, although I'm lacking in a crochet hook and so I have a lot of loose hair at the moment. I am planning on taking it out for my prom (thanks to this video I realised I wouldn't need to shave my head) as I would like to look elegant, lol, before I head off to uni and become a full time scruff.

Right, I'm going to curl up with a hot water bottle as my stomach is killing me, watch youtube videos on how to make my dread look less shit and read my friends Nanowrimo from last year all washed down with a cup of tea.

Because Amelie is a cracking film.

Also, anyone out there who has dreadlocks and could help out a failing novice?

Pinafore

Hello everyone. The weather been utterly dreadful today. I don't know about you but here in Blighty it's been raining cats and dogs, so much so that I know have leak in my room. Great. Nevertheless, here's an outfit post of what I wore yesterday. Although, please forgive the gigantic hole in my tights, it happened on the bus ride home. I wouldn't go out like that. No, instead I like to post it on the internet.

 Dress: Vintage
Top (cropped): ASOS

Also, please excuse my slightly orange face, I was pottering through my sister's make-up bag and just tested out her brushes. As you do. Little did I know it was covered in bronzer and gave me a nice orange glow that I didn't notice until after these photos were taken. Lesson learned.

As some of you may know it was my birthday last week and I thought it would be a nice idea to make my thank you cards instead of buying some. I used acrylic paper instead of watercolour but I think they turned out quite well if I do say so myself. Thank you GCSE art!

Until next time I'm going to leave you with this:

Because this song is cute and great to paint to.

Feeling Like Blah

Hello everyone! Hope you're all having a great Sunday, for me it's my last day of freedom before heading back to school. Sucks man. So I indulged myself with a lie in and playing a spot of Sims 3, but first I took advantage of the sunshine and snapped these photos.

 Jumper: Vintage
Shorts: Newlook
Socks: Primark

 *Belleh*

I've been feeling rather sluggish lately and I'm pretty sure it's due to my horrendous diet that I've allowed myself to have over this Easter holiday. So much pizza! Anyway, in order to combat these feelings I donned my favorite jumper and a bit of dramatic lippy. The lipstick I'm wearing is a combination between a bright red and a really dark (almost black) purple that I just blended together with a lip brush. They say the best thing to detract from bad skin is a bold lipstick. And I can tell you, my skin is awful at the moment.

Anyway, enough ranting I'll leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening with this:

Because I cannot get enough of the Tarzan soundtrack.

Meow!

Hello! Here's an outfit I wore during the week, I just wanted something easy and comfortable to wear so as usual my bum grazing shorts came out, haha! I swear I practically live in denim shorts, though I am trying to break my denim wearing habits. This waistcoat was actually salvaged from a bag of my dad's old clothes and is great as light coverup in the summer. Oh summer, how I long for you!

 Top: Friends
Shorts: DIY
Waistcoat: Dad's
Hat: Topshop
Belt: Primark

I love this top which again I salvaged from a friend when she was having a wardrobe clear out. I'm probably portraying myself as a raging clothes thief, aren't I? I swear I don't go round stealing clothes in the night, promise! I do buy my own clothes, on occasion.

Also, thanks to anyone who comments on my posts, I love reading them and checking out your blogs! So on that note, I leave you with this:

(It was Ross's choice)

It's Wednesday

Hello! and happy Wednesday! Hope you're all fine and dandy. I wore this outfit yesterday teaming my DIY dress with some vintage pieces and my brogues. I made this dress out of my mum's old summer dressing gown, would you believe? Originally it was floor length with long sleeves and had a massive rip down the length of one arm. She was going to chuck it out but I loved the embroidery detailing so much so I kept it for ages before finally doing something with it haha. I am glad I did as it is now one of my favourite DIY pieces that I've made.

 Dress:DIY
Belt:Vintage
Cardigan: Dad's

 Necklace: Present

I haven't been up to much recently in all honesty. I'm a boring old sod at the moment! I have a busy week next week so hopefully I wont be as boring haha! On a good note I did receive some lovely packages from Ebay so ill have those to share with you sometime soon. Oh and I made some changes to my blog layout, looks smarter now. Don't you think?

And on that note, I shall leave you with a band i discovered a couple of days ago. Pretty much in love with them!

I Ventured Outside!

Hello! Hope you all had a smashing weekend! I stayed over at my boyfriends and he decided a short walk would be a great idea before I headed home. Well a ten minute walk turned into a four hour one! We ended up lost in the woods though admittedly it was so worth it. The views were just gorgeous! I also managed to get some outside shots of my outfit, just to show you that yes, I do venture outside. Sometimes.

Hat: Boyfriends
Scarf: Charity Shop
Jumper: Internationale
Top: Friends
Waistcoat: DIY
Shorts: DIY
Shoes: Converse
Bag: Vintage

 *Face shot!*

This is probably my favourite jumper, I've had it since i was about 12 and its from Internationale (back when it was cool) and has washed and worn so great. Though I do have to admit the arms are a little on the short side, but nothing a stylish bit of sleeve rolling wont solve. I stole this hat off my boyfriend when it was really cold outside once and just, well never gave it back. These shorts are making yet another appearance, well what can I say? They are my fave after all. I do regret wearing tights on our little expedition as they kept getting snagged on all the branches and brambles. Believe me I looked more than a little worse for wear by the time we reach civilization once again! But like I said it was worth it and here are some photos to prove that:

 *Ross being a silly!*

It really was beautiful and we stumbled across a great camping area where we intend to return to in the summer. Oh and you would not believe but we were sat in this field and two deer emerged from within the trees and stood looking at us for about five minutes then cantered away. It was amazing, just wish my camera hadn't have run out of battery by then. Though I did managed to cobble a video together with my shitty amazing video editing skills.

*Sorry the camera quality is shite!*

Going Back To The Start

Hello! So despite some very disappointing A-level results on Thursday my chin is up and here is another look for you! After seeing an E (yes an E!) on my results sheet I am more determined than ever to get the A I need in English. So after this post out come the books and I'm going to crack on with coursework!

 *Chubby Cheeks!*
Top: Ebay
Shorts: DIY
Cardigan: Charity Shop
Cross Necklace: Ebay

Yesterday I went up to my friends house and we got Chinese accompanied with a nice bottle of rose. We ended up watching a film called 'The Runaways' with Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart (who we made fun of all night) and it was pretty good. The film really made me want to dress like a rock star and wear face paint and HUGE platform heels! Bet that would give the old folks in my village a lil' bit of a scare, haha! Just listening to Coldplay at the moment and preparing myself for my coursework with lots of tea! But it's all good I'm going to Ross's tonight for beer and Naruto so on that note I'll leave you with this. Have a good weekend!

I Heard It Through The Grapevine

Hello! Here's an outfit post of what I wore to a Jam Night my boyfriend organised. It was a bit of a flop as two bands pulled out and so it finished much earlier than expected, so me and a disappointed Ross got some chips and ate them in the cold, lol!  My mum was having a massive clear out the other day and threw away this tunic/dress as well as some other great pieces that I shall showcase on this here blog sometime soon!

Dress: Mum's
Bag: Topman
Cardigan:Dad's
Hat: Vintage
Ring: Turkey

Please excuse the blank expressions, I'm yet to master the skill of facial expressions! I have a habit of wearing clothes that aren't mine it seems, what can I say? They just crawl into my wardrobe unannounced! But,I really do love this dress/ tunic thing. Its a size 16 and I reckon it was meant to be worn as a top, though I'm just about short enough for it to cover my bum. It's also got some handy ties around the waist to bring it in and avoid tent top syndrome. Hope you liked this, and thanks for reading!

Love a bit of Marvin!

Why Hello There!

Right ho! So the idea of a blog has been rattling about in my head for a good while and I thought to myself 'what the hell' and grabbed the bull by the horns and well... yes...here I am!

So! Let me introduce myself: I'm Safiya, in my last year of A levels (eep!) and I love being creative in almost every shape and form, so expect to see a lot that plastering itself on this lil blog of mine!

And on that note!
